Fedora is good for desktop system as it has more cutting edge softwares. Fedora is great for multimedia and laptop.

For server usage get either Debian or CentOS. There are more choices but user with Fedora background will find Centos easy to use. Most server distro carries stable software instead of cutting edge or beta quality software.

My choice will also be CentOS. CentOS5.3 is the most recent release.

The only problem with CentOS is it's old kernel version, if only it came with the latest Kernel+IPTables, life would have been a bit easier for some people. I know I had a hard-time with xtables-addons due to the old kernel/iptables version.

However, CentOS remains my #1 choice of a server OS.
