hi vivek,

Generally we have certain rpm's coming with the RHEL5.0 and we create a repository for those rpms and use it. Now my requirement is I want to install some new packages(not present in RHEL5.0) and its corresponding dependencies. The packages are available in the internet i don't want to download those packages and dependencies, rather i want to configure yum in such a way that the yum connects to internet and get those pakages and dependencies for me. Is that possible??

Hope you understood.

Pavan.

Yes, only if those packages are part of repo like EPEL or any other 3rd party repo. All you have to do is configure repo and you are good to go. Here is EPEL and RPMForge repo. Once configured you get access to those deps and thousends of additional packages:
  1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux / CentOS Linux Enable EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux) Repository
  2. Red Hat / CentOS Linux: Enable and Install Media, CD / DVD, Moive MP3 Players
