Default open application to specific screen

I'm running dual displays attached to my nvidia quadro fx 3500. they are running in 'twinview'. I've been trying to find what terminal command I can use so that an application opens to a specific screen. Can anyone help me on this?

I had been convinced when I started looking for this that I should be able to use the DISPLAY variable, but I should have known taking random stabs at it wouldn't work.

You mean - you want to open an app on screen #1 or #2? Well you open app and put app windows on second monitor and tell the program to remember the position. So next time you open it, will go to the second monitor by default. I'm not aware of command line option.

alrighty, it took me a lot of tweaking to find the command to open to a specific location... granted with quite a lot of breaks... but I finally found it!
(thanks to this post) Nabble - ubuntu-uk - Open Terminal Command on Secondary Monitor

-geometry 80x25+1024+0 (or --geometry depending on the shell you're using, and what you're opening)

the first number set defines the size of the window the application loads in, and the + numbers are the location in terms of pixels (so if you have two screens, and the first is set to 1024x768, a +1024+0 will open the application in the top left of your second screen)
