Default running vmware from ntfs partition in centos

Hi
i have a problem with vmware installed in CentOS 5.2

i have a dualboot of centos with xp (same hardisk).
amoung both 2nd partition of the hardisk is used for vmware machine folder. it is a NTFS partition

I have mounted the NTFS partition with ntfs-3g utility in centos and can access the files and folders with read write permission

here come my issue now.
I tried creating a virtual machine in this ntfs partion from centos. the process goes till creating the virtual machine and if i power on the virtual machine it fails....

can u please suggest that what could be the reson to fail the vmware to get starting in a Linux machine by reading the virtual harddisk from a NTFS partition
