Dear everyone i have downloaded a kernel linux-2.6.28.tar.bz2 size 50MB.Can i upgrade 2.6.18 to 2.6.28 ,If yes then How can i do that?

You can upgrade kernel by compiling it. However, I do not recommend this for RHEL as redhat itself provide backported patches which ensures the server stability in a long run.
You can use fedora or other test box for learning purpose.
