[Internet] <-------> [Corporate Squid] <----- [CentOS Server, Router] ----> [NAT'ed PCs]
The situation is that we have a Corporate Squid proxy run by a despotic evil admin that allows only one IP per person to access the internet. This becomes a problem for me, because I'm a VMware ESX admin in the RND environment. I frequently create up to 30 virtual machines for different purposes. So each time one of those VM's need net access, the request to modify the evil admins squid rules could take months at times. So I thought, what If I created a VM Server(VMS), that created a private network, and assigned private IP's to my virtual machines. Any internet traffic would automatically be routed via the VMS, which in turn uses the one IP allocated to access the proxy and pass that request to the net. Bottom line Id like to use just one IP to access our Evil Proxy, that IP would be assigned to my VMS, and the VMS in turn would share that proxy with all my nat'ed vm pcs. So it would seem that only the VMS is accessing the net. I hope my explanation is clear enough. |
