Default root account is disabled

Dear All,

I have Fedora core 3 running on my pc. now i have a problem from last two weeks. I am not able to login as root from console and Putty. Even su command also doesn,t work . I wont get any error. But in GUI mode whenever i try to login i get a message "System Administrator has disabled this account". But i am able to login from any other user name.
what could be the problem?entries in /etc/passwd are also fine.
I have LDAP, dns, apache, running on this. Please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance

Did you configure it as LDAP client by any chance. Try to check with authconfig command for this ...even I face same problem some time back.
