How Do I upgrade FreeBSD version 5.0 port collection?
many of my ports in /usr/ports are not working because of this update
so I would like to know how to get my ports collection updated so that I can get packages for me? I gone through FreeBSD docs but I'm not able to understand the whole process; can anyone point to me with commands or resources

Following are commands
Install cvsup to upgrade ports (assuming that you are on server i.e. no X windows) Code:
# cd /usr/ports/net/cvsup-without-gui # make # make install # make clean Code:
# cp /usr/src/share/examples/cvsup/ports-supfile /tmp/ports-supfile # vi /tmp/ports-supfile Code:
# /usr/local/bin/cvsup -g -L 2 /tmp/ports-supfile # cd /usr/ports # make fetchindex Code:
# cd /usr/ports/sysutils/portupgrade # make # make install # make clean # pkgdb -F
