Hmm ... i think dd should do the trick:

dd if=/dev/hdc of=/tmp/some.iso
Replace /dev/hdc with your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM device name and make sure CD isn't mounted while running DD. Not sure but mkisofs can be also use.
