You can use gpass to store both username and password; script can be modified to store password as well but which is bit risky as it will be in a plain text format No it is not there is tips and tricks section
For windows desktop putty is good and I think Putty also works under Linux tooo
http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/putty-0.60.tar.gz just download compile the same

or just use apt-get command to install putty under Linux
