Default how to mount the / on /mnt/sysimage/ when system is not mounting on /mnt/sysimage

Dear all,
When I was starting the system in rescue mode, It was showing that

"You don't have any Linux partition. Press return to get a shell. The system will reboot automatically when you exit from the shell." My problem is that when system is not mounting on /mnt/sysimage, and root is not found, how can I take backup of data? Except mounting on /mnt/sysimage, any option to mount / for taking backup of data?
Please tell me shortly.
Regards
Amit.
