Default Startup/shutdown problems with WOL and Ubuntu

Hallo,
I am developing a system that uses Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04.
The MB used is an ENANO 8523T Single Board Computer from IEI-Technologies; it uses an Intel Celeron M 1GHz and an Intel Chipset 852GM and a 1GB RAM.

The system is supposed to be remotely accessed for maintenance and upgrade operations, for this reason it has to use the WakOnLAn feature of the on board Lan Interface.

The problem is that if thge WOL is active when the system is shutdown it restarts by itself and since then on it's impossible to shutdown the system unless the power supply button is pressed for more for more than 5 seconds.

In addition is present another problem tied to the power supply: if the power button is press for a short time the system is soon shutdown without executing the canonical sequence.

Note that both itemas: WOL and PowerButton under Windows XP operate correctly.

My impression is of some kind of bug in the MB itself and in the Ubuntu drivers.

Any idea or suggestion?

Thanks,
Leonardo
