I just got a view and after much searching I found this in the forums on sandisk.com.

You need to put the player in MSC mode:
1. Go to the main menu
2. Put the player in hold mode
3. Press 'left' until the lock icon appears
4. Now plug the player in

You can even upgrade the firmware this way just by copying the firmware files to the device's root directory.
