how come with RHEL and RH derivatives? i get that error/warning? when i replace the OS with debian/slack or BSD's i never got it again?

try upgrading the firmware and also disable smart in BIOS and in init.rd scripts. damn smart. it just eats my CPU and things and is a real crap. sorry no smart please, i preffer to be dumb. yes from 300 GiB to 2.1 GiB hdd maxtor, same issue, replaced with debian/slack. problem solved. HDD & BIOS firmwares, upgrade'em all!
